Pet Insurance Plans

So the vet bill is not the deciding factor

Explore the pet insurance options available through All Solution Plus. Understand what reimbursement percentages, annual limits and waiting periods actually mean before your pet needs the cover.

Pet insurance reimburses you, it does not pay the vet

Most pet policies work on reimbursement. You pay the vet, submit the invoice, and the insurer pays back a percentage after your deductible — commonly seventy, eighty or ninety percent. That is a meaningful difference from health insurance, and it means you still need the money available on the day.

Three numbers decide what a policy is worth: the reimbursement percentage, the annual limit, and the deductible. The fourth thing that matters is not a number at all — every policy excludes pre-existing conditions, which is why cover bought while a pet is young and well is worth considerably more than cover bought after a diagnosis.

Types of pet cover

Policies range from narrow accident-only cover to comprehensive plans with routine care added on.

Accident

Accident only

Covers injuries such as fractures, swallowed objects and lacerations. The cheapest option, and it pays nothing towards illness.

Comprehensive

Accident and illness

The most common choice. Covers injuries plus illnesses including infections, cancer and chronic conditions, subject to your limits and exclusions.

Wellness

Wellness add-ons

An optional rider towards routine care such as vaccinations, dental cleaning and flea treatment. Effectively a budgeting tool rather than insurance.

Common questions

No. Every pet insurer excludes conditions that showed signs before cover began or during the waiting period. Some will review a curable condition after a symptom-free period, but chronic conditions stay excluded.

Typically a few days for accidents and around two weeks for illness. Orthopaedic conditions such as cruciate ligament injuries often carry a longer wait, sometimes six months.

Generally yes. Because policies reimburse you rather than paying the practice, most have no network restriction — a real advantage over human health cover.

Almost always. Premiums typically increase each year with age and claims experience. Worth budgeting for, because cover becomes most valuable exactly when it costs most.

That is when it is cheapest and most useful, because nothing is yet excluded. Whether it makes sense depends on whether you could comfortably absorb a sudden multi-thousand-dollar bill.

Thinking about cover for your dog or cat?

Tell us your pet’s age, breed and any conditions already diagnosed. A licensed agent can explain what would and would not be covered — before you pay for anything.
