Dental Insurance Plans
Explore the dental plans available through All Solution Plus. Understand how annual maximums, waiting periods and networks actually affect what you pay, and get a licensed agent to help you compare.
Dental cover works differently from health cover
Most adult dental cover is not included in a major medical plan, so it is bought separately. The structure is also different: instead of a deductible and an out-of-pocket maximum that protects you from large bills, dental plans usually work the opposite way round — with an annual maximum that caps what the plan will pay.
That cap is commonly between one and two thousand dollars a year. Preventive visits are often covered in full, basic work partially, and major work such as crowns at a lower percentage, frequently after a waiting period. Knowing those three numbers tells you most of what you need.
Types of dental cover
The main choice is between a network plan with negotiated fees and a discount arrangement that is not insurance at all.
Dental PPO
Use any dentist, but you pay less in network. The most flexible option and usually the most expensive.
Dental HMO
Lower premiums and often no annual maximum, but you must use a dentist in the network and may need referrals for specialists.
Indemnity plans
Pay a set amount per procedure and let you see any dentist. Less common now, and you may need to claim reimbursement yourself.
Discount dental plans
Not insurance. You pay a membership fee for reduced rates at participating dentists, with no annual maximum and no waiting periods.

Common questions
What is an annual maximum?
The most the plan will pay towards your care in a plan year. Once you reach it, you pay the rest yourself. This is the single most important number on a dental plan.
What are waiting periods?
A delay before certain work is covered — often six months for basic treatment and twelve for major work. Some plans waive them if you had prior dental cover.
Is orthodontics included?
Usually only as an optional add-on, often limited to children and subject to a separate lifetime maximum. Adult orthodontic cover is much less common.
Are discount plans the same as insurance?
No. A discount plan gives you reduced rates at participating dentists but pays nothing towards your treatment. They can be good value for people who want predictable savings without a maximum, but they are not insurance.
Can I keep my dentist?
On a PPO usually yes, though you pay more out of network. On a DHMO you generally must use a network dentist. Check before you enrol.
Not sure which dental plan is worth it?
Tell us your dentist, whether anyone needs major work in the next year, and your budget. A licensed agent can compare annual maximums, waiting periods and networks so you can see what you would actually get back.
All Solution Plus is a licensed insurance agency. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Dental plan benefits, annual maximums, waiting periods, networks, premiums and eligibility vary by state and carrier. Discount dental plans are not insurance and do not pay benefits to providers.
